Makeup Tips and Techniques!

I love reading about different makeup tips and techniques. So today, I want to share with you some of the techniques that I’ve picked up over the year in order for you to create a beautiful, flawless look.  But, before we talk about having flawless makeup, this doesn’t come without having flawless skin, which can be very difficult to achieve for many, especially for those affected by acne, pimples, or blackheads. It’s important that you take the time to follow a regimen that’s suitable for your skin type. Cleansing, Toning, and Moisturizing are key factors when taking care of your skin.

Now for the tips and techniques to achieve having that beautiful skin. There are so many different makeup lines out there, some obviously better than others and of course by better i mean more costly. But if you can’t afford to spend a lot you can find some good brands as well as your local drug stores for the most part, Walgreens, CVS, and even Walmart.

When applying makeup, it’s important that you have a fresh, clean, moisturized face, in order for your face to pick up the makeup well.

Once, you’ve moisturized your face, you can now apply your foundation. I have found that finding the right foundation is probably one of the most difficult things. Why? For many people, especially if your a darker tone, you don’t want a foundation that will make you lighter, you want one that will blend with your skin type. In order to avoid yourself from wasting your hard earned money, it’s better if you go and have them try a foundation color on you in order for you to know which matches you best.

When applying your foundation, you don’t need a lot of it, meaning you don’t necessarily need to apply it all over your face, you just need to apply it in the areas that needs it, meaning you want your face to have that even tone. Most people need it in the T-zone (forehead & nose area),  a little around the mouth area and on the cheek area may work for many.

Now once, you’ve applied your foundation, you can apply your concealer. I would suggest that you apply your concealer with a concealer brush, or a makeup pad. It’s important that you don’t rub the concealer into your skin but rather you press it or dab it. Concelear should be used in those spots that you want to conceal, which for most is under your eyes. It’s also a good idea to purchase a concealer that is a shade lighter than you are. This works wonders.

Now once you’ve applied your concealer, you can now apply your powder. Some people prefer pressed powder, while others prefer loose powder. This is really a matter of preference. I think it’s always good to have both, just my preference. You also need, a powder brush for this step, Sally’s Beauty Supply has some good ones, if you can’t afford to buy MAC. Again, you don’t need powder all over your face, just around the areas that needs blending in order to get that flawless looking skin. Make sure that you get around your chin, all the way to your neck in order that your face doesn’t look lighter than the rest of your body.

Once you’ve applied your powder, most people choose to do their blush. Blushes tend to lighten up your face and add to your glowing look but some people do go without so again it’s totally up to you.

Eye shadow, in order to apply eyeshadow, you need a brush and your finger. Once you’ve applied the shadow, it’s important that you take the tip of your finger and press it in, it makes it lasts longer.

Mascara, less goes a long way. So many people tend to go a bit overboard when it comes to mascara, when they don’t necessarily need it. All you have to do really is start from the base of your lashes, rub your mascara a bit at the base and roll your brush upwards. This gives a fascinating illusion of having long, lusciuos lashes. Also use a eye liner at the base of your eyelids to make your eyes pop, and please don’t over do it.

Finally, your lips. You want your lips to pop! There are so many shades of lipsticks and glosses out there, that it’s crucial to find the right match for you. Shop around, and this is where I would definitely splurge, because you can never have enough really. When applying your lipstick, it’s probably best if you use a liner first that matches your lip color and blend it in, and then apply your lipstick. When applying lip gloss you can do the same or just apply a balm before to mositen your lips and then apply your lip gloss.

I hope these tips help you when trying to achieve your flawless face. There will be more to come, so stay tuned….

xoxo
