How to obtain healthy hair- Hair growth regimen

There is a myth that has been embedded in the minds of many for quite sometime. It has been said that African American or Black women can grow their hair only up to a certain length, or you have to have that good hair to get it to grow, or you have to be mixed. Well for those of you that don’t know this isn’t at all true. Many people have had personal experiences where they have had their hair grow by taking good care of it. Let me begin by saying that hair growth comes with proper hair care and a regimen that works well for you. What may work well for one person may not necessarily work well for you. It is unfortunately trial and error at times, especially if you cannot find someone that can properly take care of it for you.
Now many people would say leave it up to a professional but there are times where you may not be able to go see a hair stylist or one that is suited for your hair so it’s still important for you to learn some basic techniques for yourself.

One of the most important things I have learned about hair care in the past few years, is the importance of keeping your hair moisturized. It is important that you have a healthy balance of protein and moisture in your hair. I would recommend anyone, despite your hair type to alternate between a protein conditioner and a moisture conditioner, this way it makes it easier to keep the healthy balance of both in your hair. Additionally, its also important that when you apply conditioner to your hair, speaking to black women more specifically, you should definitely sit under a hooded dryer with the conditioner in your hair under a plastic cap of course for about 15-20 minutes, you don’t need more than that. Once your done, wash out the conditioner and proceed to style.
