My Fear of flying tips
Thousands of people travel everyday via personal cars, public transportation, busses, trains and airplanes. Most people choose the airplane route because it is the shortest time you have to spend away from home. The Houston Rockets have chosen a player from the draft that have yet to play for them a game mostly because of fear of flying. A great number of people have this fear of flying situation going for them. I personally have a fear of flying too myself. These are my fear of flying tips that help me cope with the flights that I have taken and the ones to come.
Some of my Fear of Flying tips
One: Make sure that you know how long your flight is going to be and know how you are going to make it through during that length of time. For me what I do is I bring music and listen to it for as long as I can. My greatest fear is to be in the air for a very long period of time.
Two: I know it’s easier said than done but be positive always think that you will make it home. I don’t know about most but I am always praying in my heart that God protect and guide us in the air and believe that He’s in control.
Three: Make yourself comfortable The ways I keep my comfort is by bringing my sunglasses with me on the airplane and wear it throughout the flight. Keep your eyes closed and don’t open it If you don’t have to.
Four: my other biggest fear of flying is turbulence so to cope with that I think as a car or bus going over speed bumps. Just like we have speed bumps on the ground we also have that in the air and that speed bump is gravity. Thinking that way helped me stay calm for the most part.
There are many other tips out there for people with fear of flying and these are my methods to cope with fear of flying. Now the thing is if these fear of flying tips are not as practical for you and you can’t deal with them, you need to see a therapist to help you. Ask your therapist for any medication that may be able to help you either keeps calm while flying or put you to sleep through the flight and so on. Keeping your breathing under control is key to overcoming your fear of flying. If you have to practice yoga and other breathing control technique that will help also.
