Where do we go when we die?

Where do we go when we die?

I have encountered a number of people that claim that when they die they end up in heaven, I know you guys know exactly what I mean, so many movies even portray this notion.  So tell the truth what really happens when were dead and gone?

  • I believed when someone died your body stays on the ground and your soul goes up. For example read genesis 2 v 7. and i do believe there heaven and hell. 1 corinthians 15: 12-14, 17-20 Paul talks of our hope, of our resurrection.

  • when people die, they do not go to heaven, they go exactly where they have been buried: six feet under. Some people will go to heaven but that is only and only when Jesus comes back and those that will be found righteous in his eyes will be taken up to heaven with him. The other ones will go to hell to burn with the devil. So do not believe those things about people are in heaven and stuff. According to the bible there are only three people up in heaven right now besides God and the angels. And they are Moses, Elijah and Enoch. No one else is up there.

  • There are numerous speculation that when we die we will be reincarnated, we'll go to heaven, or that we'll go straight to hell. Scripture tells us "Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return" (Gen. 3:19). It is during the second coming that God will take care of the Christians when the world comes to an end, because Paul states in I Thessalonians 4:16,17, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with him in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

  • Ok so I'll be the first to comment about this. I have heard this idea a lot, that when people do die they end up in heaven even when physically at their funeral we still see their body laying there right in front of us. I think that in order to understand where we end up when we die, it's important to understand where we actually came from. Speaking from a biblical perspective of course the bible says in Genesis 2: 7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." So now that we know how we got here, the same bible tells us exactly where we end up when in fact we die, meaning there is no breath left in us. In Ecclesiastes 12:7.
"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." This means that our bodies return to dust as it was but our spirits return to God. Now some people use this notion to say okay but our spirits are there with God so that infers that we still have some life after death. Well in the bible it says contrary to this. If you read James 2:26 it says the "the body without the spirit is dead". Nowhere in the bible does it ever mention that spirit has a life of it's own, the spirit is simply the breath of life. In order for a person to be considered living, it needs both a body and the breath of life.
