Hi everyone, I hope that you all are having a blessed day. I just wanted to take this time to just talk a little bit about myself and my background and why exactly we have created this blog and what it’s really about. Well, I go by the “the author” a name I kind of borrowed from someone very special to me. I enjoy writing and just sharing my thoughts on all types of topics. I have been in a relationship for a very very long time now and yes with the same person, so one of my personal favs to talk about is relationships and how to make them work. By no means am I an expert but I have had some amazing experiences and I just feel compelled to share especially since I get asked all the time how do you do, or rather how do you put up with “him” (sorry babe, they always ask). We have definitely had our ups and downs but by God’s grace we have always found ways to make it work and have decided to not give up on each other. Our situation in the past few months have changed since we’re apart for a while now so we’re finding new ways to make things work even being in a long distance relationship. You see, I’ve had to leave him back home to go away to school and the transition was hard and it is still hard but the most difficult  part of it all  has been being away from the person that has the other half of my heart, the one that completes me. Let me just say how fortunate I am to have someone that is willing to put their life on hold in order for me to try to pursue my own dreams, I just thank God everyday for bringing him into my life. This story will definitely be to be continued….

Another thing that I’m quite passionate about is spiritual growth, we are living during the last times and I know that so many people don’t quite understand what that means and I just want to let the world know that Jesus, the One that came and died on the cross on calvary is coming back soon to come and take all of those that believed in him and did what he asked us to do home. I personally cannot wait! I also love to cook, when I have time and I love to share different recipes or things that I’ve learned over the years. I also try to keep up with the current events and try to educate myself as much as I can so I love to share those things too. This blog is not about me but more so about how can I help others in any shape or form, so this blog really is dedicated to all of you. I hope that when you come here, you can find something that can bring a peace and joy into your heart because that’s what writing does for me. It comforts me in a way that I really can’t explain. I hope and pray that this blog will do a lot of good and bring forth a lot of people to understand more about God first and foremost and also about every anything else. Love you all!

Hey everyone, let me just say that it feels so good to be back writing and just sharing some of my thoughts with all of you. Ok enough mushy talk..let’s get to it.

How do you know if you have found the person that your supposed to spend the rest of your life with? I think that this is absolutely one of the hardest things to know. Many times when we find ourselves  in a relationship, especially in the beginning we say that “oh yeah he/she is definitely the one” and then a few months down the line when things don’t seem as peachy or wonderful as they once were, we begin to seek for that “other one.”

Well, the reality is that we won’t ever find the one were supposed to be unless we try to make things work. Now I am not saying if your with someone and after a few months you really don’t feel like it’s going anywhere then to stay in the relationship but you should always attempt to find ways to make it work (definitely feel another post coming for this one). So I know what your thinking, what makes me such an expert? Well the reality is I’m not but over the years I have seen and have experienced a lot and have been in my relationship for quite sometime so I think it’s safe to share some things that have made ours work and have allowed me to feel like he’s the one for me.

First and foremost, I truly believe that if someone wants to have a relationship that will bring you more joy than sorrow, you have to place God at it’s center.  In any relationship, I think it’s so important to have someone that’s going to respect you, both of you should have a mutual respect for each because that is where the trust and faithfulness stems from. You also need to know that the person understands and cares for your well being. They have to love you for who you are and encourage you to be what you can be. They have to be strong for you when you are weak and you have to be able to return these things unto them.

You have to know that you can trust them with your well being and if you plan on having children, with their well being too. You have to be able to talk things out and communicate when someone just isn’t going right. Don’t let problems build because they will eventually cause the demise of your relationship. It’s so important to talk things out and work things out, even when you may not want to. The longer a problem lasts, the more reasons you start to find why this person isn’t the one for you, so fix it before it gets to that point. So many times, I find myself wondering exactly how exactly God will make a way out of what seems to be no way. I’m not sure how many of you may feel like this but I find this to be more times than I can actually count. The saddest part of all is that anytime I find myself in a situation and I really don’t know how it will turn out, I begin to doubt and forget at how good God has been to me and how he has done things for me beyond my wildest dreams. You see, God ask us to do something that is so simple, which is trust and believe in him and know that he will never let us down, you see where God sits on his throne, no one can move him. He reigns forever and despite what life may throw our way, he is ultimately in control. To say that we will not go through rough patches is an understatement, sometimes I feel like the devil will continously test us to see if we will forget how good God truly is but we just have to remember that the devil is a liar and that he never wins in any battle against the True and Faithful. Now one thing I know I have struggled with is, I’m doing everything that God is asking me to do but yet I still feel like God isn’t answering my prayers, what is that about? Well, I think it goes back to what I have said before God works in ways that is simply beyond our imaginations. God answers prayers and does things on his time and that’s just something that we can’t change but we can learn to appreciate because God knows what we need and when we need it. Again he will never let us down, so we shouldn’t let him down by not believing in his power. I know we all go through things in this life that can make us start to wonder about the power of God, but it is so important that we bring ourselves back to those times where he has made a way when we knew there was absolutely no way.  I just want to thank God for all of the things he has done and will continue to do on my behalf in my life. So the VMAs were held in New York this year and I think this was the best one of my time thus far. Madonna opened the VMA with the Michael Jackson tribute. She talked about Michael, their date, their friendship but most importantly how most of Michael’s friends abandoned him when he was going through his legal issues. I’m glad someone said it because they sure did!!! In the beginning they had dancers dressed in different Michael Jackson apparel who danced to his songs. I loved every minute of the tribute. After that Janet performed to their song “Scream” which was great. Janet killed the whole performance. While she performed she was edited out of the video while on the big screen you saw Michael and she performed onstage. She did their memorable dance in the video when they danced together. That was a heartfelt performance, I almost cried. Is it me or did MTV nail the Michael Jackson tribute better than BET… well some might argue that MTV had more time but I’m looking at the bigger picture, if you’re better at your craft; time frame shouldn’t play a big factor.

So Poor Taylor Swift never saw this one coming… lol Taylor Swift won best female video for “You Belong with Me” which is a good song but I don’t think it should have won and she looked surprised just like me. The other nominees were Beyoncé, Pink, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears so come on, but who doesn’t like an underdog. The competition was stiff but I didn’t expect her to win and so didn’t Kanye West. So while she’s saying her acceptance speech Mr. Ego aka Kanye West interrupts her and tells her his two senses about the situation. “Taylor, I’m really happy for you, and I’m gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” said Kanye. Wow… I felt so bad for her; she was so shocked that she couldn’t even finish her speech. DAMN KANYE another one bites the dust but one thing you can’t say is that he told the world HE GOTTA BIG EGO lol After that horrible experience Taylor had to perform right after which I can say was actually good. Kanye is Kanye nothing more or nothing less, you gotta love him for that.

Lady Gaga’s performance was good but disturbing. I personally like Lady Gaga and everything she does so I didn’t mind the whole blood thing because I like the song and I understood the whole concept. Tonight she was on her weird mode with her appearance, what she wore, and her date Kermit the frog. Lol WTF but despite all of that you can’t deny that this lady has skills. BTW was I the only one who noticed she made it her mission to wear panties on stage to put an end to the hermaphrodite rumors. I don’t know why they call beautiful singers who can dance hermaphrodites, her and Ciara need to do a song together lol

Beyoncé also performed “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” like always it was good. Being that Beyoncé is such a nice person once she won video of the year for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” she recalls winning her first VMA and calls out Taylor Swift to have her moment. AWWWW You can’t hate Beyoncé no matter how hard you try because she always does things like that. Lol I’m glad Taylor got to finish her acceptance speech.

Pink’s performance was good. She was on the rope things called trapeze flip and flopping and it was different. I loved how she copied Lil’ Kim and had a sticker of her nipple while she performed… I don’t blame her since her and Shakira wore the same outfit. Next time I bet she’ll bring a change of clothes… BTW she was with Carey Hart her ex-husband whom she wrote “So What” about… IDK their relationship is weird one day their together and the next day their not but hey at the end of the day it is what it is. I still love her.

So Jay Z closed the VMA with a performance with Alicia Keys. The performance was good and close to the end of the performance out of nowhere comes Lil Mama. WTF I don’t even think she was a part of the show. Jay Z didn’t even acknowledge her… DAMN seems to me like she tried to pull a Kanye but was unsuccessful LMAO.

The 2009 MTV VMA’s rocked, if you missed it try to catch a re-run. The host Russell Brand was funny. Overall it was good and the facebook and twitter updates made it even better lol Controversy makes good tv… hell live tv is always good tv also.

Being and remaining loyal is something that I believe we all deal with it at some point in our lives. So many of us take so much pride in saying how loyal we are to our friends, our family and our significant others, etc. We ensure these individuals that we wouldn’t do anything to hurt them and that no matter what we would always be there for them. We have these people place their trust in us because they believe in our loyalty. True loyalty, I believe is a nature that God possesses, God is loyal and ever so faithful to us. He makes promises unto us and he keeps them. I know that sometimes we may feel like God doesn’t quite answer our prayers the way we intended but he always answers them where the outcome is for the better. You see, being loyal to your friends, family and significant other is great and all but how about being loyal to the one that makes all things possible. God has done things for us that we just cannot begin to imagine or even comprehend. He has made a way for us when there probably was no way and yet we continue to turn our back on the one person that despite anything we can count on. You see, God asks us to be loyal to him in return, for some they think it’s a one way street when it really isn’t. God has a special love for those that love him and are loyal to him. Now you may ask, well how do I know that I’m being loyal to God and the answer is quite clear, are you following his word and doing all the things he’s asking of you. You might be thinking, well I’m trying to but God doesn’t just try to be loyal to us so we shouldn’t only try to do his will but really make a valiant effort. You see God has a set of laws that he simply ask us to follow to prove that we are loyal to him. How closely are we following God’s law, are we being completely loyal to God or are we really only pretending. I just thought I’d share this with all of you because I think sometimes it’s good to just make sure that we check our lives and make sure that we our ordering our steps in God’s words.

Psalm 86:5 “O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help”.

We have been taught to forgive others and we claim to do that all the time but do we really forgive? How do you forgive someone that kidnaps your one and only daughter, rapes her, and infects her with a STD? For some of us, our first instinct is to see that person dead not imprisoned but dead. Imagine this, God’s only son came from heaven to earth got abused, raped of his dignity and infected with all of our sins and yet he continuously begs his father to forgive us. We sometimes let the human nature and our emotions take over and cloud our judgments.

Many times if we were to take at least one second to think we would act or react differently. To forgive is to complete restore the relationship. If you did something to me, I claim to forgive you , and I have a chip over my shoulder is that really forgiveness? We are not perfect however we should strive everyday to reach that level. To fully forgive we can’t do it all alone, we need the help and the guidance of the holy spirit. We should ask God everyday for a portion of his wisdom.
