In this day and age, so many people feel that having a long lasting relationship is far from impossible. Well, le t me be the one to tell you that it really isn’t. I won’t lie to you and say that it doesn’t take a whole lot of work, patience, and understanding but if you truly love someone than any and everything is possible. A lot of times when people are in relationships, they tend to give up easily, if you truly love someone than you have to exhaust all of your resources before you decide that you no longer want to be with them. But this is only and only if you want to really be with them and they too want to be with you. There are certain things though that will help you in your relationship if you do want it to work. Trust me, I wouldn’t be telling you these things, if I had no clue of what I’m talking about. It’s important that when your in a relationship, that you respect the person that your with and that they give you the same respect right back. When I say respect, I mean it’s important that you choose your words carefully, there is no need to tell your partner, curse words, or words that will make them feel disrespected in any shape or form. A lot of times even the word “shut up” can do more harm than good. It’s important that you understand that adults go about handling matters in a more adult way, and that involves talking to each other like human beings and not like animals. Respecting each other is key. Another important thing to remember if you want to keep your relationship going is to be open and honest to your partner. If you are keeping things, this will do more harm than good, because they are bound to come out at some point. It’s always better to clear the air than to keep things hidden because it does make a situation that could have been easily resolved much worse if the truth is uncovered at a later time. Another thing that a person needs in a relationship, is understanding. If for example you are with someone and they tell you that they don’t want to do something or they aren’t feeling up to it, it’s important that you try to understand what they are trying to tell you even if you don’t like it. It’s never healthy in a relationship when a person has to give up all of themselves just to please you because what happens then is that they stop loving themselves which can prevent them from loving you. There are so many other factors that go into having a long lasting relationship, but trust me when I say these three are crucial, respect, honesty, understanding, oh and one that I didn’t mention above which is trust. If you love someone than trust and believe that they wouldn’t do anything to hurt you just like you wouldn’t do anything to hurt them. xoxo
