Creating a professional business card using Photoshop
With the way this economy, is going any way to save on business cost will help. Paying someone $120 -$200 to create some business cards for your business may not be on the agenda. Any saving is good saving nowadays.
To start this tutorial you will need the following:
- Photoshop CS3 or higher
- Instead of creating a business card template, just download the design guideline from Overnightprints.com by clicking here
- You may have to download these fonts: Bauhaus 93, Arcade, Dots All For Now JL
Ok, let’s jump into this tutorial.
Once you have opened the downloaded design guideline from overnightprint, all you need is the frame; just uncheck the folder title “delete these layers ” and now you are ready to start creating your professional business card.
Step 1 Create the background
- Create a new layer and call it “card background” .
- Select the Bucket tool, and fill in the layer with a background.
- To apply the gradient layer style, do the following
- Right click on the layer and select blending options to apply gradient filter

- Select Gradient Overlay

- And choose the following colors from left to right: #1d2d5a,# 1377a6,# dbd9d9,# f0f0f0 then press Enter or Ok, to close out the Layer style box and you will end up with something like this:

- Background for your professional Business card
Step 2: Put in your company logo
Place your logo on the top grey area, aligning it to the left, well, you can have it where ever you choose but for this tutorial, we will have it on the left. And if you don’t have a company logo yet, you can just choose a text font that you like and put your company’s name on the top grey area. I will show you how to create a simple but professional logo in another tutorial.

Step 3: Put your company’s website below the logo, in the grey area
Step 4: Put your Name, Email, Phone number(s) in the blue area

Step 5: Services offered
The business card doesn’t have enough space to put all the services you can provide to your clients, but you can give them a brief idea. To do this I decided to put only four critical parts. And to get the effect applied to the web design, business card, graphic design, you will have to reduce the opacity of the text.
To change the opacity of a text you would first select text layer that you wish to change. In this case we will use the graphic’s text.
1. Select the text that says ”graphic”
2. Then on the top where it’s labeled opacity, decrease the number from 100% to a percentage that best satifies your needs.

You are all done… You are now ready to print your business card with a professional printing business online such as overnightprint.com.
This is the finished product…

I get ask all the time which anti-virus software I like to use and I always reply, since I got introduced to this technology ideal I have been using Norton and I have no complain really. Then I get asked, is it free, no it is not you have to pay for it. I sometime suggest AVG as a good free anti-virus software but now I think I am going to move over to the Microsoft product. I have been using Windows Defender to help me combat the malwares and anti-spywares out there. Microsoft Security Essential is a FREEEE anti-malware solution that is available to you for your personal computer or laptop. This program will help your computer to fight against viruses, spyware, adware and other malicious software. All you need it to make sure your computer or laptop is running windows XP with at least service pack 2 and higher, windows vista, and windows 7. If you are not sure how to find out which service pack your computer has do the following: From your computer, click start, find the My Computer icon, right click then click properties.

Once you can identify that you have service pack 2 you can download and install the Microsoft security Essential. At the present time this application or program only runs on 32bit processor not 64bit. For more information and download go to: Microsoft Security Essential

Photoshop is expensive, this I know, but it can be very fun and addictive if you do in fact learn a thing or two about it. If you want to try out Photoshop CS4 before you think about purchasing it, you can go to www.adobe.com and try out the trial version for free for 30 days. Believe me, it’s worth the price once you learn all of the cool things it can do. This is especially a good tool to have under your belt, if you love photo editing and learning how to add different cool effects to a picture. Besides it’s something else you can do in your pastime while your not checking out the Things We Talk About!
To get you started, here’s one of my favorite tutorials that’s easy to learn and very fun to do!
You can go check out them out at http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/polaroids/

Many people maybe wondering what happened to the april fools conflicker virus 2009. Oh, how come they didn’t get infected, and was it yet another rumor? I wouldn’t say it was, but people we have to be keep our computers updated at all time. Make sure we have all the latest updates from microsoft installed and mostly pay a bit more attention to the security patches. Have a reliable anti-virus softoware like symantec for corporate and norton for home users. And last but not least have anti-spyware tools. For corporate users, the new endpoint from symantec has both anti-virus software and anti-spy. If you do not have an anti-virus that comes with an anti-spyware don’t be scared. Microsoft Defender and Spybot can really help you out in time of need.

There are many many tools that can help you to recover from this virus and as noted on symantec website try not to use any free antivirus software.
However, whenever I get any infection on my computer I have always find the following tools really helpful:
1. Windows Defender (Free Anti-Spyware tool from Microsoft)
2. Spybot (Free anti-Spyware tool)
3. Symantec corporate version
4. Norton Anti-Virus.
