The exchange of gifts is always a pleasant ordeal and the exchange of gifts between President Obama and Queen Elizabeth was no different. Queen Elizabeth presented The First Family, with a signed portrait and President Obama presented the queen with an IPOD. This I would definitely say is a signature American gesture. The IPOD contained pictures and videos from her visit in 2007 to Washington and Virginia. Her majesty was very happy about her meeting with President Obama and wife Michelle, she held a banquet for all the world leaders, and President Obama let reporters know by shouting that “It was a wonderful visit” and the queen is “delightful.”

Tim Geithner, The Treasurey Secretary said on tuesday that AIG will pay back the $165 million dollars in bonus money they just paid out. This is what Tim Geithner had to say”
“We will impose on AIG a contractual commitment to pay the treasury from the operations of the company the amount of the retention awards just paid,” Geithner wrote. “In addition, we will deduct from the $30 billion in assistance an amount equal to the amount of those payments.”
Bascially, what this is saying is that they will be paying back more because they actually gave out these bonuses as a penalty. If the U.S. was what AIG needed to stay afloat then how is it possible that they have money to give bonuses. Like President Obama says this is defnitely an “outrage.”
Hopefully, this situation gets resolved soon.

AIG, American International Group INC. was one of the many companies that received federal aid very early on. They were fearful that their collapse would cause widespread damage to many banks and consumers world wide. The Associated Press reported that AIG has used over $90 billion dollars of the government’s money or rather taxpayer’s money to pay foreign and domestic banks. Some of the banks they paid also received their own bailout money from the government. The money was to be utilized to get credit flowing to households and businesses. We now find that the money is still being used to pay out bonuses. When will all of this end?

The U.S. Senate has decided to postpone a vote on a spending bill. The bill was for $410 billion dollars in spending. Of course many Republicans are against the bill being passed, which was why the Democratic leaders left it open so the Republicans could make changes in order to gain their support. By the passing of the bill being postponed this presidents our dear President with a certain dilemna, what should he do, should he veto the bill or should he sign off on the bill that has certain aspects that he doesn’t agree with and he promised wouldn’t be part of his plan. What do you think that our President should do in regards to this matter?
