How to make lasagna?

There are so many different recipes for lasagna’s on the web, but the goal here at the things we talk about is to find the easiest way to make something. So here is my best take on how to make a delicious dish of lasagna. Note: This recipe is for everyone even those that are afraid to cook. Also this recipe is copyrighted.

Here it goes:

This recipe can be done two ways, one where meat is used and the other where no meat is used. It’s really up to you.

Without meat:

1.  Chop up some onions,  green peppers, red peppers, fresh thyme.

2. Take a pot and pour in your Ragu sauce into the pot, while your ragu sauce begins to cook, take a box of mixed vegetables (frozen) and place it into your sauce.

3. Once that starts to cook, place your onions, green peppers, red peppers, fresh thyme into the sauce. Add some ADOBO Goya to the mix to give it that extra taste. Be careful not to put too much because it can make your sauce too salty.

4. Now while your sauce is simmering. Place another pot filled with water to boil and add some oil, and a little bit of salt.

5. The water shouldn’t take long to boil but once it is place your lasagna into the water. Make sure you place the lasagna one by one.

6. Now let the lasagna cook. Once that’s cooked, this is where it gets tricky, lasagna tends to stick together so you have to keep it in the water, let the water cool a little before sticking your hand in it.

7. Take your oven ware and spray it with PAM or butter spray, whichever you prefer.

8. Place your first layer of lasagna, next place the sauce on top. Now it’s time for your shredded cheese, I like to use different 3 different kinds and it really depends on how I feel. One cheese that is necessary to have is the Ricotta Cheese.

9. Place your ricotta cheese first and then add your shredded cheese on top. Now add your other layer of lasagna and continue this process.

10. Once you add all your layers, the very top layer should consist of the shredded cheese. Now it’s time to place it in the oven.

11. By the way, make sure your oven is preheated to 400 degrees. When your oven is preheated, the lasagna will be ready quicker.

12. Let it bake for about 30-35 minutes.

13. Once it’s bake, take it out of the oven, let it cool and then it will be ready to eat.

With meat:

Follow same steps just add meat to your sauce and let it cook a bit longer, remember cook it a medium heat, and add water as you go, not too much, because you want your sauce to be thick.

Good luck!

Hey you guys, this is a very easy recipe if you want to make some rice and some red kidney beans or any beans for that matter. This recipe has a West Indian twist to it, it tastes delicious and I hope you enjoy it.

Rice with Red Kidney Beans

1.       Wash your kidney beans with water. (2 washes)

2.       Put kidney beans to boil, don’t forget to cover the pot, it boils quicker!

3.       Check the beans after about 20-30 minutes to see if they are tender, (it shouldn’t be mushed)

4.       Once beans are tender, drain the beans but don’t throw away the water in which the beans were boiled (Very important)!

5.       Now it’s time to fry the beans, no need for too much oil, just enough for the beans to fry in.

6.       While the beans are frying it’s time to start putting in your spices

(how to prepare your very own homemade spices will be coming soon).

-Some spices to consider

                Goya ADOBO collection

7.       Once the beans are done frying with the spices, time to put in your coconut milk, yes coconut milk, no need to put too much, that means don’t put in the whole can, not even half the can, just enough to cover the beans.

8.       Let the beans simmer in the coconut milk for about a minute or two.

9.       Now it’s time to pour back the bean water back into the pot.

10.   Once you pour the bean water back make sure you check to see if it needs more salt (this truly depends on you).

11.   Now once the water begins to boil, you know it’s time to pour in your rice.

12.   When pouring the rice, you know you have enough once the rice makes a hat over the water.  Stir to make sure you haven’t been deceived. Pour as needed.

13.   Now let the rice cook in water for a little bit on High to medium heat.

14.   Once the water starts to disappear it’s time to cover the rice so it can steam.

15.   Let the rice cook and steam for about 30 to 40 minutes.

16.   Go and check to make sure your rice is cooked and if it is then your ready to eat!!!

17.   And if it’s edible then you have definitely done this right!!

Good luck!!!

What should I have for lunch, one of the most difficult decisions that so many people struggle with every day. Many times, people just settle for the easiest solution, which is Wendy’s, McDonald, Burker King, places where you can just basically drive thru. For the most part, unless you are ordering a salad, with lite dressing then this isn’t considered to be the best solution. Lunch can be enjoyable but healthy all at the same time and it can also be brought from home, to ensure that it is healthy and will be delicious.

Some healthy options for  lunch, may be, a fruit salad. You can pre-prepare this the night before and pack it up and leave it in the fridge. The best part of this salad, is you decide what you want to go into it. You can also have some nuts, either cashews, peanuts, almonds, etc.

Another alternative, would be of course a salad, either cesear salad, cobb salad, where you can put all the things you love. Some toppings for you salads can be cucombers, raisins, sliced apples, green peppers olives, whatever is you like or prefer really.

Another alternative, is a wrap. You can cook some chicken breast, or take some left over meat from last night’s dinner, or turkey slice, salami, roast beef, etc. and place some american, provolone, or swiss cheese, your preference really with your condiments and you have a delicious, tasty, and let me remind healthy wrap for for lunch. You can also bring along an apple, or an alternative fruit to have as well.

Soup, is also a good healthy lunch that many people like to enjoy, and they usually bring along a small side salad to enjoy. If you are going to purchase an already made soup, read the label package to ensure that it doesn’t contain MSG an high sodium. Remember you want it to be healthy.

It’s important that when you trying to find things to eat for lunch, that your first priority is your health. No matter what you need to watch what it is you put into your body. Don’t overeat, but make smart, healthy choices.

Bon appetite!

Coffee Substitute- Cafix Instant Beverage

Posted by TheAuthor | Posted in All Hottest & Latest Topics, Food, News | Posted on 19-03-2009

So many people are trying to get away from drinking lots of coffee and are looking for a coffee-like substitute minus all the caffeine that can potentially be harmful since it is a drug, it’s a stimulant and mild diurectic and shouldn’t be consumed in large amounts. So rather than drinking lots of caffeine, why not consume something that’s natural and tastes so much better. This is especially nice if you have kids and you don’t want them to consume lots of caffeine. Cafix is a beverage that is made out of malted barley, barley, chicory, figs and beet roots, and it’s made in Switzerland. It all natural and 100% caffeine free. Trust me when I say, it is delicious! It has only 5 calories per serving in 1 teaspoon. You can add milk if desired and a little sugar and believe me you will want to be drinking this all day. You can find it at most Natural Food Stores, and the price usually ranges from 5-7 dollars for a 3.5 OZ jar, which should last you for more than a month, if you don’t go overboard.

Bechamel sauce is also known to be called the White Sauce, it’s made various ways. This sauce have various uses as well, you can make this sauce and mix it with macaroni, potatoes, cauliflower, etc. It goes great with almost anything you can think of, almost!

Here is my version of Bechamel Sauce that you can try and will I guarantee it will taste absolutely amazing:

1. First, chop up some onions, green peppers, red peppers, and some olives.

2. Take a pot and place all of your chopped vegetables into the pot. Place half a bar of butter into the pot and let the vegetables simmer in the butter until the butter is melted.

3. Now take some cheese, I prefer Velveeta Cheese for the Bechamel Sauce, you only need to use half the bar of cheese or a little more if you are a cheese lover.

4. Place the cheese in the pot and let it melt.

5. Once your cheese begins to melt, place some flour, about 1/2 cup to 1 cup, this depends on how much you want to make.

6. Once you place your flour and mix well, you now want to add your carnation milk. You can put the entire can of carnation milk into your sauce. Mix it well.

7. To add some extra taste and flavoring, add some garlic powder and salt. Be cautious of how much add, you don’t want too much of any.

8. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes on low heat. And there you have it, nice and easy, tasty Bechamel Sauce.

9. Now it is ready to be mixed with anything of your choice.
