Mary, the mother of Jesus was indeed a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus, but did she remain a virgin or did she also have other children? Until this day, many churches still refer to Mary, as the Virgin Mary, but the bible tells us something for different. Jesus may have been Mary’s first born child but he wasn’t the last. Let’s take a look at John 2:11-12
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples put their faith in him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
Ok so this proves that Jesus did in fact have brothers, so how about sisters? Check out Matthew 13:55-56
55 ”Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”
So there you have it Jesus indeed had sisters too.
Jesus is the son of God, he came down from heaven in order to save us from our sins and he does promise he’ll return again. Those who have died in Christ, like his mother Mary, and most of his disciples, shall be resurrected and will spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I just wanted to share this information because believe it or not, not many people are aware of this and they still hold on to the notion that Mary remained a virgin even after giving birth to Jesus, which is completely false. I hope you learned something new today.
